I AM FROM POEM

I am from the living room

Where I would sit on the floor

And watch cartoons like Sailor Moon

I am from staying at Grandma Doll's house

From the lilac bush that bloomed in her garden

And flowers that grew in the cracks of the concrete

I am from chicken drummies, strawberry shakes,

And a side of pickles served at Ronda’s Family Cafe

I am from the Bertha, and the Bill and June

I am from the last ones to arrive to the party

From the “be nice to your brothers” and

The “Stop drawing on the wallpaper”

From being forced to wear dresses

And sit in stiff, wooden pews

I’m from Germans from Russia

Cheese buttons and knoefla soup.
